The gunboat San Pablo
The San Pablo - from the movie "Sand Pebbles" was completed several years ago and occasionally sees action in our games. Built on commission my friend Joe who has loaned it back for this photo shoot, game preparation and modifications. "Up the Coco River" is scheduled for April 3rd 2010. Set in one of the 'Banana Republics' of Central America this quasi-historical pulp adventure will involve up to 10 players racing up-river with a team of adventurers (shore parties) against common challenges. One player - Jeff will play a 'Captain Bligh' position and all players will compete to complete selected personal objectives. These objectives include Fortune Hunting, Rescue, Military, Archeological, Crime Fighting and Big Game Hunting.
Board Set Up
The board will be 5 tables stacked side to side. Each table is 2' 6" x 6' which will result in a 12.5 x 6 foot playing surface. The San Pablo must maneuver against hazards in the river as well as face appropriately graded challenges. Shown in the picture are partially completed jungle and rough terrain pieces. Often it is hard to take good pictures during a game. I also wanted to experiment with some of the river navigation mechanics before game day.

Yesterday I worked on terrain, jungle mostly. I layed in the road, village, and worked on a major terrain feature.
As to hats
Upper right, a couple of our younger players: Aaden and smaller friend (can't remember little guys' name). Below: Little Andy, Me (standing), Joe, and Steve. Right: Walt - Mr. B.A.R. himself wearing the 'Charmed' shunken cupie / Headhunter protection fetish.

'Momotombo erupting' and the black grouping in front of the volcano is a group of the 'She -wolves' in their inflated rubber raft which has been washed far ashore from the sunami event token, being devoured simultaniously by the giant spider and the sand worm.
